Who we are

The mission of the Epi-Api lab is to understand the host-parasite relationship through the lens of Epithelial cells and the Apicomplexan parasites that infect them.

We believe this special relationship between the two, forged over millions of years, holds the key not only to learning more about these deadly parasites, but also to learn more about ourselves (in more ways than one!).

We love using cell biology, molecular parasitology, stem cell-based and in vivo models to answer our many questions.

Practicing science should be a pleasure and a privilege, one that we do not take for granted. Our lab will strive to keep in mind the people who live with the diseases we study every day, as well as the public and private citizens who support our work.
